Research & academic profile

As Director of the Cardiovascular Trials Office at the Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit, Joseph leads a busy research programme spanning hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia, heart failure and acute coronary syndromes. He has been principal or chief investigator on numerous early-phase and first-in-human trials of new cardiovascular medicines, with high-impact publications in journals including Nature Medicine, Circulation and Hypertension. His research role means patients at the clinic benefit from the very latest evidence — and, where appropriate, from access to novel treatments before they become routinely available.
